The Village by High Park is a 643-unit development on an abandoned retail store location in west Toronto. Construction started in 2008 and the building is expected to be completed and occupied in 2010. Its one- to five-bedroom units are priced from $127,000 to $348,000, significantly less than comparable developments in Toronto. Demand for Kintyre, the only condominium development in the area, has been overwhelming. Over 90% of the homes were sold before construction started.
The City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada have partnered with HOA to offer down payment help to some buyers. The City has deferred development charges of over $3 million. The province and federal government have offered $1.5 million from the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program.
